2. Workshop Update – Scott Weisman
• Scott gave a brief update on the 2007 SHRUG Workshop

                                                              i.      Emphasize the need for presentations

3. “How to Give a Presentation” - C. Henry Depew

4. CAP Grant & Statewide LiDAR Project - Richard Butgereit
• Richards presentation reviewed the LIDAR project and Strategic Statewide GIS Planning

                                                              i.      LIDAR

1.      Coastal LIDAR concludes June 2008

2.      Website: www.floridadisaster.org/gis/lidar

3.      Working with FIU for downloading data when project complete

                                                            ii.      Strategic Planning for Statewide Coordination

1.      Federal Programs were reviewed

2.      History starting with the Florida Geographic Information Board reviewed

3.      GIS Managers Meetings held in conjunction with Water Management District meetings

4.      Emergency management using US National Grid

5.      Mentioned HAZUS-MH training held recently  

5. FLURISA/SHRUG Discussions – Lee Hartsfield
• Lee indicated that he was elected as President of FLURISA
• FLURISA concerned about too many GIS conferences

                                                              i.      10 – 12 GIS Conferences every year

                                                            ii.      Vendors forced to pick and choose which conference to attend/support

                                                          iii.      Budget cut in state and local governments

                                                           iv.      SHRUG mentioned as one of the more successful conferences

• Question posed: Is SHRUG flexible to change their yearly schedule?

                                                              i.            Discussion among members

                                                            ii.            Consensus was to keep SHRUG every year

                                                          iii.            Motion to allow Lee to talk to FLURISA about partnering

• Lee indicated that FLURISA instructors would donate time at regional conferences
