Lunch Speaker
Lou Cross has been with FREAC since 1997 and directs the cartography and graphic design services efforts within the Center. Lou's interests include graphic design, cartography, GIS and the geography of food. Lou is responsible for design, production and management of creative projects within the center. He serves as Executive Director to the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) and is a charter member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). The 30'30" Atlas of Taste Lou joins us again as the luncheon guest speaker, previously he entertained us with a showcase of map disasters, "cartastrophies", but this time he will guide the audience along an exciting tour of taste using a variety of maps and stories about food and geography. He will explore what place-based foods are, and just how different things might taste based on where they are produced. From wine, to cheese, all the way around the world stopping along the way to talk about coffee, barbeque, and many more foods. It's fortunate for your tastebuds that this is taking place over lunch!
